INT. TUGBOAT - NIGHT
JOE COUGHLIN (a hardened man in his 30s, wearing a grim expression) stands at the edge of the tugboat, cement blocks tied to his feet, staring into the churning sea. The sound of waves crashing fills the air. He takes a deep breath as he hears FOOTSTEPS behind him.

GUNMAN #1 (a burly man with a scar across his cheek) approaches, holding a gun loosely at his side.

GUNMAN #1
(leaning against the railing)
Funny place to think about life, huh?

JOE
(eyes fixed on the water)
Not thinking. Just... remembering.

GUNMAN #1
(grinning)
Whats there to remember? You made your choices.

JOE
(turns sharply)
Choices? Is that what you call it? I call it survival.

GUNMAN #1
(chuckles)
Survival? You mean the life of crime? Love's got a funny way of dragging you down too, eh?

Joe narrows his eyes, anger simmering beneath the surface.

JOE
Love was never the problem. It was always me.

GUNMAN #1
(smirking)
Well, now here you are, contemplating a deep dive.

The other GUNMEN, shadowy figures lurking in the background, chuckle lowly.

JOE
(firmly)
You think this is how it ends? Me sinking like a stone?

GUNMAN #1
(steps closer, taunting)
Could be. Unless youve got a magic trick up your sleeve.

JOE
(muttering)
No tricks, just regret.

The wind howls as Joe recalls fragmented memories.

FLASHBACK - INT. BAR - NIGHT
A younger JOE, laughing with DEBRA (his love interest, vibrant and warm), sharing dreams over drinks.

DEBRA
(laughing)
Youre serious about this? A life of crime?

JOE
(smiling)
Ill do anything for us, Debra. Just say the word.

BACK TO PRESENT - INT. TUGBOAT - NIGHT
Joe shakes off the memory, determination flooding back.

JOE
(to GUNMAN #1)
I did it for love, not for the thrill.

GUNMAN #1
(cocking his head)
And what did that get you? Cement shoes?

JOE
(breathing heavily)
I dont care what happens next. Im done being a puppet.

GUNMAN #1
(amused)
Look at you! So dramatic.

Suddenly, Joe lunges forward, gripping the gunman by the collar.

JOE
(intensely)
You think you can decide my fate? Not today!

The other gunmen tense, hands inching toward their weapons.

GUNMAN #1
(startled)
Whoa there!

JOE
(breathing heavily, releasing him)
I wont go quietly. If Im going down, Im taking someone with me.

GUNMAN #1
(stepping back)
Alright, tough guy. But this isnt a fair fight.

JOE
(determined)
Lifes never been fair.

The tension hangs thick in the air. They glare at each other, the crash of waves echoing around them.

JOE
(beacons to the ocean)
Lets see who sinks and who swims.

With a sudden movement, Joe kicks the cement block off the edge, sending it splashing into the sea.

GUNMAN #2
(shouting)
What the hell are you doing?!

JOE
(shouting back)
Im choosing to fight!

As the gunmen draw their weapons, Joe makes a desperate leap towards the edge. The scene fades as chaos ensues.

FADE OUT.
